While contributing to Mission Control as a Robotics Engineer, Rob is also a Ph.D. Candidate in Robotics and performs research in the Mining Systems Laboratory at Queen’s University. His research there has included robotic field tests, autonomous navigation, sensor fusion, and optimal path planning. In most cases his research has applications to both space environments and places on Earth that are challenging cases for navigation (e.g. autonomous mining). He has collaborated on projects with the Canadian Space Agency and worked at the European Space Agency under the Networking/Partnering Initiative at the Automation and Robotics Laboratory.
